Energy Security as National and Economic Security Forum

The Energy Security as National and Economic Security Forum was hosted by the Pew Charitable Trusts and the Lugar Center for Renewable Energy as part of the Indiana Renewable Energy Forum Series. Specifically this initiative is focused on the real and pressing issues related to national and economic security, energy policies and what these issues mean for our state, nation and the world. The event highlighted the challenges and opportunities associated with our nation’s efforts to secure and protect our national security, increase our energy independence and mitigate the impact of climate change; all within a highly integrated and interdependent global context.

Opening speakers include Dr. Charles Bantz, IUPUI Chancellor and Executive Vice-President of Indiana University, and Mayor Ballard. Senator Lugar will offer the morning plenary address. Dr. Andrew Hsu, director of the Lugar Center for Renewable Energy, will deliver the closing remarks.

In addition to the keynote address, attendees heard from representatives of National Laboratories, Universities, Crane NSWC, and the Center for Naval Analysis, and a variety of other organizations who participated in panel discussions as they highlighted their work in this emerging technological field.
